Youth Exchange

The Welshpool Rotary Youth Exchange Programme enables young people from Welshpool and Simcoe area of Ontario, Canada who are normally between the ages of 15 and 18 to travel between the two areas every year to experience life in both the Welsh and Canadian cultures.

The Rotary Club of Welshpool together with its sister club, The Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise, help to Organise annual exchanges, with the Welshpool High School students visiting Canada during October each year to tie in with the annual 'Pumpkin Fest' celebrations. In turn, the Canadian students from Waterford High School visit Welshpool during March each year. The highlight of the Canadian visit is usually a two day trip to London to take in many of the historical sites.

The Youth Exchange Programme between Welshpool and Norfolk Sunrise (Canada) has been a great success and is now entering its seventh year.

The International Exchange Programmes

There are basically three different types of exchanges, School Year Exchanges, Summer Holiday Exchanges and the Short Term Exchange Programme to countries in the Southern Hemisphere. Also, within Europe there is a Camps and Tours programme, which, while not necessitating any 'exchange' is run under banner of the Rotary Youth Exchange programme. The Rotary Club of Welshpool also supports selected International Youth Exchanges.
